Which part fits your scissor car lift
A scissor car lift is made up of cylinders, hoses, a pump, switches and rubbers. Those parts differ by make and by model of lift, even when the lifting capacity is the same. So first write down the make and model of the lift in the bay. Then find the part that goes with it. If you order from a photo or from the look of the old part, the connection often just misses.
Measuring the old part
If you do not have the make and model to hand, measure the old part. On a cylinder that means the stroke and the connection, on a hose the length and the coupling. Put the measurements next to the data of the new part before you order.
When to replace
A cylinder that weeps, a hose with a damaged outer cover or a pump that makes a noise: those are the moments when a part is due for replacement. Rubbers and seals age over the years, even if the lift is little used. If you replace one hose, look at the rest of the pipework at the same time.
Ordering without downtime
Write down the make, model and the measurements of the old part before you order. For a completely different lift instead of a part, look at 2-post car lifts or 4-post car lifts.
