First look at the make and model of your tyre changer. Then measure the old head: the length, the thickness of the pin and the shape of the nose. The lengths run from 250 mm to 750 mm. A head that is too long touches the rim edge, one that is too short does not get under the bead. If in doubt, send a photo of the old head with the type number of the machine.
Replace protection as soon as the rubber tears, the cover no longer clamps or the rim edge is visibly touched. Rim protectors, support plate protectors and inserts for mount heads wear through the many bead breakings. A loose cover slides away and protects nothing. Check them at every major service, just like the clamping jaws and the slide plates.
Take a lever with a long shaft and a hook that gets under the bead without touching the rim edge. Chrome vanadium steel or tool steel holds the force. Lengths from 380 mm to 750 mm cover the work. Use mounting paste at the bead passage, not soap. A tyre mounting aid with bead breaker takes away the friction when the tyre is very stiff.
Sometimes they do. Corghi, Ravaglioli and Bosch use the same dimensions for some heads and covers. Even so, the make and model of your own machine remain the starting point. Measure the old part and compare the length and the connection. If you order a pedal valve, foot valve or tilting arm, use the number on the machine.
For motorcycle wheels you need a motorcycle adapter that fits the table or the shaft of your machine. When ordering, state the make and model of your tyre changer, because the mounting differs per design. Check whether the clamping jaws and the slide plates are still flat before you fit the adapter. That way the wheel sits firm and does not tilt during bead breaking.

Which size of mount head fits your machine
A mount head sits in the head of the mounting arm with a pin or bolt. The make and model of your tyre changer determine which connection and which length you need. Measure the old head: the length runs from 250 mm to 750 mm and the finish is chrome or bright chrome. A head with burrs or a rounded nose damages the bead of the tyre and does not clear the rim edge. Replace it then, even if it still sits tight.
Protection that keeps the rim intact
Metal on metal costs paint. Rim protectors, support plate protectors and inserts for mount heads absorb that. Look at the fit on your head or bead breaker: a cover that is too loose slides away and protects nothing. Protection for tyre levers and cone protectors keep the tool off the rim. Machines without a handle need guards without a handle. Replace protection as soon as the rubber tears or the cover no longer clamps.

With stiff tyres it comes down to the lever. Length and material determine how much force you can put in: chrome vanadium steel or tool steel, with a shaft that sits well in the hand. A tyre lever with the right hook gets under the bead without touching the rim edge. Mounting paste and a tyre mounting aid with bead breaker take away the friction at the bead passage. Do not use soap: it dries out and lets the tyre jam again.
Spare parts and wear parts
The table, the clamping jaws and the slide plates wear with every wheel. Clamping jaws that no longer clamp flat let the rim tilt during bead breaking. Slide plates with deep grooves let the table judder. Replace them before they touch the rim. For two-wheelers you convert the machine with a motorcycle adapter. Pedal valve, foot valve and tilting arm are fixed wear parts on the tilting unit. Order them by the number on your machine.
Ordering by make and model
When ordering, state the make and model of your tyre changer, not just the machine colour or the year of build. Many parts fit several machines: Corghi, Ravaglioli and Bosch use the same dimensions for some heads and covers. Measure the old part with a calliper and compare the length and the connection. If you want a complete set for the workshop, look in mounting accessories and spare parts. A photo of the old part and the type number prevent a wrong order.
