Hydraulic spindles and cylinders
A hydraulic spindle replaces the mechanical spindle on your puller cross-arm. That turns an ordinary puller into a hydraulic one. Check the spindle number on the cross-arm first, then you know which size fits. The spindles run from 12 to 20 tonnes of pulling force. There are short and long versions, with a thread or a G 3/4" connection. Hollow ram cylinders run off a separate pump and hose. See hydraulic pullers for the complete build of cross-arm, spindle and pressure piece.

Which hydraulic spindle or cylinder fits your puller?
Which size spindle do you need?
A hydraulic spindle replaces the mechanical spindle on your puller cross-arm. Look up the spindle number on the cross-arm first. That number decides the size and the connection. If the spindle does not fit, you will not get it mounted. The range runs from 12 to 20 tonnes of pulling force. Use short spindles where there is little room, long ones where you have to reach further.
Grease-hydraulic or hollow ram cylinder?
Grease-hydraulic spindles have a built-in pump and run on grease. You do not need a separate hose. Hollow ram cylinders go on an external pump with a hose. That combination gives more force for heavy work. Look at the space around the cross-arm and at the force you need. For the loose spindles in this category, such as the 12-tonne spindle with G 3/4" connection, the rule is: measure the thread if the number is not readable.
What to check when you order?
Check the bore of the pressure piece. It has to fit the shaft you want to pull. Pressure piece sets come for different shaft bores, from 20 to 68 millimetres. Measure the shaft accurately. If you order a long version, check whether the stroke suits the space you have. If you are unsure between two sizes, take the spindle you can find on the cross-arm.
