When a bearing sits in a blind bore and there is nothing to grip from the outside, an internal puller grips the inner race instead. The shell is spread behind the bearing, after which you pull with a counterstay or slide hammer. The KUKKO range covers Ø 12 to 58 mm in seven overlapping sizes, so one always fits exactly.

How an internal puller works

With a bearing in a blind bore there is nothing to grip from the outside. The internal puller therefore goes inside the bearing: the split shell is pushed through the inner race, and as you tighten the cone the shell spreads behind the race. Only then is the tool locked in.

Two things decide whether that works. The size has to match — take the internal puller whose range covers the bearing's inner diameter, no wider, because a shell that is too large will not pass through. And the working depth must be sufficient: a bearing seated deep in the bore needs a longer model.

The internal puller does not pull by itself. It needs a counterstay bracing on the housing, or a slide hammer that knocks the bearing out with a sliding weight. Both fit the complete range, so one of each is enough alongside the seven sizes.
