An internal puller needs something to push against. That can be static, with a counterstay bracing on the housing, or dynamic, with a slide hammer knocking the bearing out using a sliding weight. Both are available separately and fit the complete KUKKO internal puller range, so you do not need a new set for every size.

Pull or strike?

A counterstay braces on the housing and draws the bearing out evenly as you tighten the spindle. That is the controlled method: you feel exactly how much force is on it and can stop when something is not right. The drawback is that you need a surface to brace against, and that is not always there.

A slide hammer does not need one. The sliding weight runs along the shaft and knocks the bearing out in short blows. That works where there is nothing to brace on, and it often breaks a corroded seat loose sooner than steady pulling force — although it is harder to meter.

In practice workshops keep both. Start with the counterstay; if the bearing will not come, switch to the slide hammer. The light 0.5 kg model is enough for precision work, the 1.7 kg model for driveline and hub work.
