Wire Rope Pullers & Lifting Slings
You choose cable pullers and lifting slings by their maximum pull force and working load limit. Measure the cable or sling length you need carefully. A short lever needs more effort, but a heavy load overstresses the winch. Use lifting slings vertically or at an angle. Always check the WLL.
Wire rope pullers: lifting and pulling
What it is
Wire rope pullers and lifting slings lift or pull a load by hand. You choose on maximum pulling force and safe working load. Steel cable pullers are compact, chain hoists take more, and lifting slings protect the load. Measure the required length of cable or sling accurately, because a short lift is often enough.
When you choose it
Use a puller on seized parts, when lifting an engine or moving a vehicle. For securing loads you better take tension bands and luggage tensioners. When towing a car, pick towing cables and straps at the right maximum weight.
Where it goes wrong
Wrong length, wrong pulling force or a hook that does not fit. Always allow for the heaviest situation and check the attachment. Everything you fit to the car is listed under car accessories.
