Choosing the right cutting disc
Diameter and bore
Cutting discs fit angle grinders. The diameter must match the maximum disc size of your machine. Common sizes are 115, 125 and 230 mm. Also check the bore, usually 22.2 mm. A wrong size will not fit or runs unsafely.
Thickness and type
Thin discs, around 1 mm, cut quick and give little resistance. Thicker discs last long but cut slower. For steel and stainless steel you need a different type than for stone or concrete. A segment cutting disc has interruptions in the edge. It removes dust and cuts cooler, ideal for thick materials.
Safe working
Always use the guard of the grinder. Clamp the workpiece firmly, for example with a screw clamp. Let the disc reach full speed before cutting. This prevents jamming and breakage. Replace a worn or damaged disc immediately.
