Threading Dies
Choose a threading die that exactly matches the thread you need to cut. Check the diameter and pitch of the thread. The die must completely match the required size. Choosing the right threading die
Which size do you need?
Measure the diameter and pitch of the thread you want to cut. The die must match that size exactly. An M12 x 1.25 die will not fit an M12 x 1.5 thread. Always check the marking on the die.
Where ordering goes wrong
Many mechanics order by bolt diameter but forget to check the pitch. Fine threads have a different pitch than coarse threads. Also check that the die suits the external diameter of the material. A wrong die damages the thread and the tool.
Why the standard matters
Threading dies to DIN 3113 guarantee an accurate cut. The dies are hardened and ground to the standard. This gives clean threads without burrs. Always use cutting oil to extend tool life.
