Choosing disc brake tools
What to look for in a set
A disc brake set includes a pressure plate and adapters. The adapters determine which cars you can work on. Check the connection on the caliper. Choose a set that fits the brands you see in your workshop. This prevents damage to the piston.
Why the right adapter matters
The piston turns back on disc brakes with a parking brake function. If you use the wrong adapter, the piston will not retract properly. This can damage the caliper. A set with many adapters covers more cars. Pay attention to the number of parts and the shapes.
Practical use
You use the tool when replacing brake pads. Place the pressure plate against the piston and turn it back. This works for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Make sure you have the correct adapter for the caliper. Then fit the new pads and reassemble everything.
