Exhaust System
These sockets remove lambda sensors from exhaust systems without damaging the threads. The slot in the side lets the wiring pass through. You can turn the sensor off completely. Pick a 1/2 inch drive or the compact 3/8 inch version for tight spots. The aperture is usually 22 mm, but 27 mm also appears. A bent type reaches sensors behind heat shields. A set saves you buying multiple sizes. The hardened steel stops you from distorting the sensor boss.

Lambda Sensor Socket: Choose the Right Size
Which size and drive do you need?
The opening of the socket is usually 22 mm, but 27 mm also occurs. Choose the size that fits the hex on the lambda sensor. The drive is 1/2 inch for normal use. A compact 3/8 inch version reaches sensors in tight spots, like near the catalytic converter.
Where ordering goes wrong
Measure the hex on the sensor before you order. The wrong size damages the sensor or the tool. Also check that the slot in the socket is wide enough for the cable. A too narrow slot pinches the cable.
Why hardened steel and a window?
The socket is made of hardened steel. This prevents you from deforming the housing around the sensor. The window on the side lets the cable through. This way you remove the sensor fully, without the cable getting in the way. A bent version reaches sensors behind heat shields.
