Glow Plug Thread Repair
Damaged glow plug threads can be repaired with a hand reamer or a repair set. A reamer cleans the old thread. A repair set uses an insert to create a new thread. Choose the correct pitch and diameter, such as M8x1.0 or M10x1.0. Measure the hole depth to ensure the reamer reaches. For several sizes, select a full set.

Which size and pitch do you need?
Glow plugs have threads in M8, M10 or M12. The pitch varies by make and model. Check the old plug or the cylinder head. Choose a reamer or repair kit with the same size and pitch. This prevents further damage to the thread.
Where ordering goes wrong
Measure the hole depth first. A reamer or insert that is too long will not fit. One that is too short will not grip enough. Use a depth gauge or mark the tool. If in doubt, choose a complete kit with multiple sizes. It covers the most common engines.
Why the right version matters
A hand reamer cleans the existing thread without removing metal. A repair kit fits an insert for new thread. Both methods need stable guidance. Work square to the hole. This keeps the new thread true and the glow plug seals properly.
This tool belongs with Engine & Attachments. If you prefer a reamer over an insert, look at Glow Plug Tools. For damaged thread on the petrol side there is Spark Plug Thread Repair. If you work on injectors and fuel lines more often, you will find what you need under Petrol & Diesel Injectors and Fuel System.
