Hose Clip Pliers
Whether you're replacing a hose clip in the engine bay or a shaft seal ring beneath the car, a decent pair of hose clip pliers is essential. Choose between straight or angled jaws, depending on access. Check the maximum jaw opening and the length for leverage. An integrated lock holds the clamp open for one-hand work. For shaft seal rings, special pliers with a rotating connection are available. With the right tool, you work quickly without damaging the hose.

Choosing the right hose clip pliers
Straight or bent
Choose the jaw shape based on access. Straight jaws work well for exposed clamps. Bent jaws reach clamps in tight spots, such as along the engine or near the fuel line. Measure the clamp diameter and compare it with the maximum jaw opening of the pliers.
Length and leverage
Long pliers give more leverage and require less force. But long pliers do not fit everywhere. Check the space around the clamp. For a drive shaft boot, special pliers with a rotating connection are handy. You twist them onto the clamp and operate without pinching the hose.
Working without damage
An integrated lock holds the clamp open. This allows one-hand work and keeps the hose free. Use the correct pliers for the clamp type. Wrong pliers damage the clamp or the hose. With the right pliers, you work quick and without damage.
These pliers belong with the pliers for the workshop. If you want to clamp off hoses or release couplings, look at hose disconnect and release pliers. For setting blind rivets choose rivet pliers, and for inner or outer rings a locking ring pliers.
