Which version fits your job?
Special sockets come in different profiles. Think of E-profile for BMW cylinder heads or slotted sockets for nuts with a slot. Extra long versions are also part of this range. They reach deeper or past obstacles. Choose the profile that matches the bolt or nut. Check the size, for example E12 or 10 mm. This prevents you from ordering the wrong socket.
What to check when ordering
The drive size determines whether the socket fits your ratchet. You choose between 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch. Measure the bolt or nut accurately. A wrong size damages the fastener. Also look at the length. A long socket gives more reach, but less feel. A standard length often works better at normal depth.
Why a set is handy
A set with multiple sizes covers most workshop jobs. You always have the right socket at hand. Most sets hang on a tool board. This shows at a glance which size you miss. For a specific vehicle, a single socket often suffices. Choose the version that fits your type.
