Choose the kit based on the tooth count and model of your ratchet. Check the specifications before ordering, as not every kit is universal. What to look for in a repair kit
A repair kit for your ratchet contains the internal parts that wear: the pawl, the spring and sometimes a retaining ring. The kit is specific to the number of teeth in your ratchet. Count the teeth on the ratchet head or look up the model. A kit for 72 teeth does not fit a ratchet with 36 teeth.
Why not every kit is universal
Ratchet heads differ by brand and type. The shape of the pawl and spring is not the same everywhere. Always check the specifications of your ratchet and compare them with the kit. If you choose the wrong kit, the ratchet will not engage properly and may still slip.
How to replace the parts
First remove the retaining ring or screw on the side of the head. Take out the old pawl and spring. Fit the new parts and apply a thin layer of grease. Then test the ratchet in both directions. Your ratchet will work reliably again, without buying a new one.
