Tension Bands & Luggage Tensioners
Choosing the right strap depends on the load you secure. Ratchet straps allow you to tension heavy items such as machinery or motorcycles. Luggage straps with a cam buckle are quick for light items like bags. Check the breaking strength and choose a suitable length. Look for hooks that fit your anchor points. Always inspect the strap for wear before use. That way your cargo stays in place during the journey.

Choosing the right tie-down strap
Which size and type do you need?
Measure the distance over the load and the chassis or anchor point. This tells you the length you need. The width determines the breaking strength. A 25 mm strap suits light items. For heavy loads, choose 38 mm or wider. Also check the jaw shape. The jaw must fit the anchor point properly. This prevents the strap from coming loose while driving.
Ratchet or quick release?
A ratchet strap tightens firmly. That works well for heavy or uneven loads. A luggage strap with a quick release is faster for light items. You click the strap shut and pull it tight. For daily workshop use, a ratchet strap is the better choice. It stays under tension longer and lasts longer.
What to check when ordering?
Make sure the jaws fit your vehicle. Some straps have protective sleeves for sharp edges. These stop the strap from getting damaged. Inspect the strap for cuts or fraying before use. A damaged strap can snap under tension. Replace it immediately. This keeps your load secure, even in corners.
