Special Sockets

Special sockets remove damaged, rounded or seized bolts and nuts. The category is divided by type of damage and application. This helps you find the right tool for the job quickly.
Extractors for broken bolts
Extractors are for broken or rounded bolts and nuts. A screw extractor bites into the damaged material and pulls it out. Choose a set that matches the sizes you often work with. A spiral profile gives extra grip on smooth heads. For seized nuts without a head, use a nut splitter from the same set.
Groove nut sockets and rim locks
Groove nut sockets are used on castle nuts on axles, hubs and differentials. Measure the diameter of the nut first and choose the internal or external version. Rim lock sockets are for wheel locks with a unique head. If you lost the original socket, you need a set that fits your vehicle brand.
Other special sockets
In other special sockets you will find E-profiles for cylinder heads, slotted sockets and extra long versions. These sockets have a specific application and are not part of the standard categories.
How to choose
For a broken bolt, choose an extractor. For a castle nut on an axle or differential, take a groove nut socket. If a wheel lock is the problem, you need a rim lock socket. If you are unsure about the drive size, check that it fits your ratchet or torque wrench.
