Torsion Bars
Torque extensions, also known as torsion bars, prevent over-tightening. They go between your torque wrench and socket. When reaching the set torque, the extension flexes. Choose your drive size, such as 1/2 inch, and the torque rating for your job. These extensions are essential for engine components and safety-critical fasteners. Do not use them for loosening. Torque extension rods for accurate tightening
Choose the right size
A torque extension rod sits between your torque wrench and the socket. You need to check two things. The drive size that fits your torque wrench, for example 12.5 mm or 1/2 inch. And the maximum torque the extension rod can handle. Always pick a value that matches your job. Brake calipers and cylinder heads need different torque values than wheel bolts.
Where ordering goes wrong
The biggest risk is an extension rod with too little margin. If you set your torque wrench to 120 Nm, you need an extension rod that can handle that. A rod rated for 100 Nm will flex too far. That damages the rod and you tighten the bolt incorrectly. So always check the maximum torque before you start.
