The Right Pliers for Every Cable Connection
Which size and type do you need?
Wire strippers remove insulation without damaging the conductor. Automatic wire strippers work for conductors from 0.2 to 8 mm². Choose the range that matches the cables you handle daily. Crimping pliers press cable lugs and ferrules firmly. The application range is marked on the jaws or in the specifications. Check that the pliers are suitable for your connector types.
Where does ordering go wrong?
A common mistake is buying pliers without checking the jaw width. Jaws that are too narrow do not compress the cable properly. Jaws that are too wide damage the insulation or the conductor. Also choose interchangeable crimping jaws. That way, one pair of pliers is suitable for many connector types. It saves space in your toolbox.
Why the standard matters
Crimped connections must be mechanically strong and electrically safe. A good pair of crimping pliers presses the ferrule evenly around the conductor. That prevents loose contacts and overheating. Look for pliers with a ratchet mechanism. It only releases when the full crimping force is reached. That ensures every connection has the same quality.
Wire stripping and crimping pliers belong to pliers and are often used with combination pliers or cutting pliers. For specific crimping tasks choose special pliers, and for insulated work there are insulated pliers.
