Choose the right bearing fitting tools
Which size or version do you need?
Choose a ball bearing installation kit based on the inside diameter and outside diameter of the bearing. The impact rings and sleeves put the force on the correct bearing race. This prevents damage to the bearing. For small to medium-sized bearings, a lightweight site model is enough. For heavy-duty work, choose a steel version. Always check the clamping range of the set.
Where it goes wrong when ordering
Measure the bearing accurately before you order. A set that is slightly too small or too large will not fit. That costs time and money. Also consider the bearing type. Ball bearings need different tools than silent bushes or control arms. For silent bushes, use a universal press frame. This presses the bush out or in straight and controlled. A press frame works without impact and is therefore safer for delicate parts.
Which standard or specification matters?
Bearing sizes follow international standards. The inside and outside diameters determine your tool choice. A ball bearing installation kit often covers a range of diameters. Choose a set that fully covers your bearing diameters. Then you always have the right tool at hand. For heating bearings, use inductive bearing heaters. They heat the bearing evenly without an open flame. The bearing then slides onto the shaft without impact.
A bearing that is stuck solid comes loose with a puller without damaging the shaft. For the other hand tools you need during fitting, go to hand tools. Tighten bolts and nuts with the right torque wrench from torque tools, and for specific car parts there is speciality tools car. Everything you need for this falls under tools.
