Frequently asked questions about Speciality Tools Motorbike

Answers to the most common questions from our customers

Measure the diameter of your oil filter. Also check the number of flats on the wrench. The tool must fit tightly over the filter, otherwise you will damage it when loosening. The product information always lists the diameter and the number of flats.

No, spring compressors are made for a certain range of tube diameters. You will find this range in the specifications. For upside down forks there is a special version with an open clamp. Measure the outer diameter of your inner and outer fork tubes to select the correct tool.

A universal lever is too long and can damage the rim or the tyre. Special motorcycle levers have a longer handle and a plastic or aluminium tip. This lets you change a motorcycle tyre without breaking spokes or damaging the rim.

Yes, without a locking tool the clutch hub spins. That makes it impossible to loosen the centre bolt. The locking tool holds the hub in place. Check that the spanner size matches your clutch hub.

Choose tools made from hardened steel with a solid finish. Spring compressors and locking tools work under high tension. Inspect them before each use for any damage. Follow the instructions in the workshop manual. Then they are safe.

Speciality Tools for Motorbike Maintenance

Speciality Tools Motorbike

Here you will find the tools you need for maintenance and repair of your motorbike. The range is divided into three groups: lifters, tools for the engine and attachments, and tools for the chassis, brakes and drive.

Lifters and stands

A lifter or stand raises your motorbike or ATV safely to working height. Check the load capacity, the lifting height and the width of the platform. Choose a model that carries at least the weight of your machine. A stable stand is also useful for winter storage.

Engine and attachments

For work on the engine and attachments you use special wrenches. Think of an oil filter wrench for a specific brand, or a locking tool for the flywheel. These tools do not replace standard tools, they complement them. Always check the diameter and the version before you buy.

Chassis, brakes and drive

For the fork, the brakes and the chain you need different tools. A spring compressor for upside down forks clamps onto the outside diameter of the leg. A brake piston retraction tool pushes the pistons back into the caliper. And with a chain tool set you replace links and locks.

How to choose

Do you want to lift the bike for a major service? Choose a lifter. Do you only need to change the oil? Then an oil filter wrench from the engine and attachments group is enough. For suspension or brake work, take tools from chassis, brakes and drive. This way you always have the right tool at hand.
