Choose the right tool for engine and attachments
What to check before ordering
For work on the engine and attachments of your truck, you need tools that fit precisely. Check the OEM number of the part you are replacing before you order. This ensures the wrench or turning tool has the correct size and shape. A wrong choice damages the part or the tool itself.
Which drive size do you need?
These tools work with your ratchet or torque wrench. Check the drive size, for example 1/2 or 3/4 inch. If the drive does not fit, you need an adapter piece. Always use a torque wrench when the manufacturer specifies a tightening torque. This prevents damage to bolts or threads.
Special wrenches for tight spots
Oil filters, turbochargers, pulleys, and sensors are often in tight spots. Special wrenches are made for these. They grip precisely around the part without damage. Use a counterstay when high forces are involved to prevent the tool from slipping. This keeps you safe and the part intact.
This tool sits within Commercial Vehicle & Truck special tools. If you also need a wrench with the right size and profile, see Oil & Fuel Filters. For work on the driveline there is Gearbox, Axles & Steering, and for safe brake work Brakes.
