Which shank fits your machine?
Masonry drills and concrete drills have a special shank. It must fit your hammer drill. SDS is for light hammers, SDS-Max for heavy work. First check which shank your machine uses. A wrong choice gives poor drilling results. Your shank can even get damaged.
Which size and length do you need?
Diameters range from 4 to 26 mm. Lengths go up to 1000 mm. For a specific job, choose a single drill, such as single sizes. If you want multiple sizes at hand, take a set from the assortments. For larger diameters you need a machine with enough impact energy. A too small hammer stops drilling in hard concrete.
What to watch for when drilling?
Always use a hammer drill, not a standard drill. The hammer action breaks up the concrete. The carbide tip cuts through the material. Drill without pressure, the machine does the work. Pull the drill back regularly to remove dust. This prevents jamming and overheating.
