Where ordering goes wrong
Many mechanics order by brand or colour. That is not enough. Brake fluid must meet the DOT specification of the system. Power steering fluid must match the manufacturer's recommendation. Compare the label on the container with what the vehicle manual says. This prevents damage to the system.
Brake fluid and power steering fluid sit under Oil & lubricants, alongside Engine oil and Transmission oil. A hydraulic oil for a vehicle lift is not suitable as brake fluid. When you change the fluid, a brake cleaner helps remove spills, and Antifreeze & coolant needs checking just as regularly as brake fluid.
