Extensions
Extension bars extend the reach of your ratchet to access recessed bolts. Select the drive size that matches your ratchet and sockets: 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 inch. Choose a length based on the clearance. Longer bars reduce torque feedback. Look for a ball detent to keep sockets secure.

Extension Pieces for Every Ratchet
Which size do you need?
Extension pieces come in three drive sizes: 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch. Choose the size that fits your ratchet. A wrong size will not click securely and is dangerous. Always check the marking on your ratchet and sockets.
Length and feel
The length of the extension rod determines how far you can reach a bolt. Choose a short version for precise work. A long extension gives more reach but less feel. For high torque, use a socket instead of a long extension.
Profile and locking
A hexagon profile prevents the socket from slipping. Many extension rods have a ball detent for a secure click. This keeps the socket in place while you work. Make sure the ball detent moves smoothly. That extends the life of your tool.
This is part of ratchets & extensions. If you want to choose the drive itself, look at ratchet handles. If a socket with a different drive does not fit, an adapter offers a solution. In places where a straight handle does not fit, a universal joint or a flexible handle helps.
