Thread repair: which tool fits the job?
Thread repair without cutting away material
You restore damaged thread with a tool that follows the existing pitch. The blade cuts nothing away, so you make no swarf. You choose per job between internal and external, and between a loose tool and a set.
Internal or external
For thread in holes you use an internal thread restorer. For thread on axles and bolts you take the external version. Both work universal per size range. Check before ordering whether the tool handles the pitch. For threads finer than normal, such as British Standard, you need special blades.
Blades, parts and inserts
A worn blade you replace loose. Under blades and parts you find spare blades for 60° (metric/UN) and 55° (British Standard), plus guide bushes and keyway skip adapters. Is the thread too far gone or is material missing? Then you repair durably with a thread insert set. It holds a seat cutter, a thread insert and a bush set. Loose thread inserts you order per piece.
Which job, which choice
Light damage: internal or external thread repair tool, with spare blades in stock. Fine or odd pitch: first find the right blades. Thread too far gone: thread insert set. It all sits under tools, so you order it together with your other workshop supplies.
