Valves & Valve Springs
Valves and valve springs control how your engine breathes. A wrong size leads to compression loss or ticking noises. Compare the valve stem diameter, overall length, and OEM number with your old part. Valve springs vary in wire thickness and number of coils. Measure the inner diameter before ordering. That prevents a mismatch that damages your engine.

Ordering valves and valve springs
Valves and valve springs determine how well your engine breathes. The wrong size causes compression loss or ticking valves. Always check the diameter, length and OEM number of your old part. This prevents ordering the wrong set.
Valve springs: measure the inside diameter
Valve springs differ in spring rate and number of parts. Measure the inside diameter of the old spring and compare it with the new one. A spring that is too loose or too tight disrupts valve timing. Use a valve spring compressor to replace the spring safely.
Valves: check the diameter
The diameter of the valve stem and the valve head must match the cylinder head exactly. Measure the old valve and note the OEM number. This ensures the new valve fits and the seal remains intact.
This tool belongs with Engine & Attachments. Working on timing? See Engine Timing. For the fuel circuit there are Petrol & Diesel Injectors. If a valve still does not fit, Cylinders & Pistons helps.
