Which size or version do you need?
Special sockets and wrenches handle jobs that standard tools cannot. Think of sockets for splined bolts in cylinder heads. Choose the right drive size, often 1/2 inch. Also check the length for recessed points. A long socket reaches further, but watch the clearance around it.
Where ordering goes wrong
A common mistake is picking the wrong drive size. A 1/4 inch socket does not fit a 1/2 inch ratchet. Always check the marking on your existing tools. For sets, look at the number of parts and the sizes. This prevents buying a set with sockets you never use.
Which standard matters?
