Brake Tools for Every Job
Brake tools for passenger cars
Replacing or bleeding brakes requires the right tool. This category contains everything for brake maintenance on passenger cars. You will find resetting devices, wrenches, flaring tools and pullers. The products are grouped by application: disc brakes, brake lines and bleeding, flaring tools and drum brakes.
Disc brakes: resetting brake pistons
When replacing brake pads, you must push the brake piston back. Use a resetting device with adapters for disc brakes. The adapter must fit the exact form of the brake caliper. Check the diameter and form before you order. A universal set covers most brands, but for special models a version made for that brand is needed.
Brake lines and bleeding
To replace brake lines, use special wrenches. They fit around the nipple without damaging the corners. Common sizes are 10 x 11 millimetres and 12 x 13 millimetres. After replacement, you must bleed the system. Bleeding sets and adapters for compressed air are available. Choose the set that fits your workshop.
Flaring tools for your own brake lines
To make your own brake lines, you need a flaring tool. This tool presses the ends of the line into the correct form. Common diameters are 4.75 millimetres and 6.3 millimetres. Check that the inserts match the diameter of your line. An adjustable model works for several sizes.
Drum brakes and handbrake
With drum brakes, you replace brake shoes and adjust the handbrake. Use springs and pullers for drum brakes. A complete set is useful when you work on several cars. To remove seized drums, use a puller or slide hammer. This prevents damage to the drum or the axle.
How to choose
Replacing brake pads? Choose disc brakes. Working on lines or bleeding? Go to brake lines and bleeding. Making your own lines? Use a flaring tool. Maintaining drum brakes? Choose drum brakes. That way you are always right.
