Gearbox, Axles & Steering
For work on the transmission, axles and steering of trucks, you need specific tools. Think of spring compressors, socket sets and holders. Pay attention to the connection, often inch or millimetre. Length and material determine the load capacity. Check that the tools fit your vehicle. Transmission tools of good quality are essential in any workshop.

Tools for gearbox, axle and steering
Choose the right size and connection
For work on the gearbox, axles and steering of trucks you need specific tools. Think of socket sets, holders and presses. Always check the connection. It is often in inch, for example 3/4 inch. But millimetre sizes also exist. Measure the nut or socket if you are unsure. A wrong size damages the bolt or nut.
Where ordering goes wrong
Many tools look alike but differ in form and load. A socket for cars is not suitable for trucks. The forces are bigger and the sizes are heavier. Also pay attention to the length of the tool. Longer gives more leverage but does not fit everywhere. Choose a holder that suits the job. A ball joint press must fit the type of axle on your vehicle.
Why quality and standards matter
Tools for trucks must be tough. Quality shows in the material and finish. A torque wrench must stay accurate. Always use the right tool for the job. A puller or separator fork does different work than a press. This prevents damage to the vehicle and unsafe situations. Choose tools that fit the job and the vehicle.
This tooling sits under special tools for commercial vehicles and trucks. For work on the engine and attachments, see engine and attachments. If you need brake tools, go to brakes. For replacing oil and fuel filters there is oil and fuel filters.
