Clamps and tensioners
Screw clamps, glue clamps and one-hand clamps from the KUKKO VIRIDIS range, plus the tensioners a workshop needs: spring compressors, valve spring compressors, piston ring compressors and spreaders. Cast iron or all-steel, with wooden handle or 2K grip.
Clamps and Tensioners: Which One?
Clamps and tensioners for the workshop
Clamps and tensioners are essential in the workshop. You use them to fix, glue or tension parts. The choice depends on the job. This category contains screw clamps and spreaders and spring compressors. Both groups have their own application and operation.
Screw clamps for fixing and gluing
For gluing wood or metal, use screw clamps. They deliver even pressure across the workpiece. Cast iron screw clamps are rigid and durable. They do not deform under pressure, even during prolonged clamping. All-steel screw clamps are lighter and often faster to use. One-hand clamps operate with one hand, ideal when you need the other hand free. Check the opening width and throat depth. A screw clamp of 600 millimetres will not clamp a part of 700 millimetres.
Spreaders and spring compressors for assembly
Spring compressors are for safely replacing coil springs. Choose a version that fits the spring diameter and strut type. A universal spreader for strut and steering parts has a specific size, often M12. If it does not fit, do not force it. Valve spring compressors tension valve springs during head work. Piston ring compressors squeeze the piston rings when fitting the piston into the bore. Check the range against the engine bore. Hydraulic spreaders deliver controlled force for separating flanges and parts.
How to choose for your job
For gluing and assembly work, choose screw clamps. For springs and press fits, go to spreaders and spring compressors. Always measure the workpiece and spring. This prevents forcing or damaging your tool.
