How to choose the right air grinder
Straight or angle, which version fits?
A straight air grinder works best for precise tasks in a straight line. An angle version reaches tight spots and suits cutting off. The length determines your reach. Short tools around 170 mm give control. Extra long versions up to 376 mm reach deeper into engine bays or between chassis parts.
Watch RPM and working pressure
The maximum RPM sets how fast you grind or polish. Higher speeds work quicker but need more air. Compare the tool's air consumption with your compressor's output. A small compressor cannot deliver enough pressure. The tool loses power and the job takes longer. The required working pressure is often stated in bar or psi.
Where ordering goes wrong
Check the air inlet thread. Most tools use a 1/4 inch female thread, but exceptions exist. Measure the collet or arbor size too. A straight grinder often takes a 6 mm collet, a cut-off tool an arbor of 16.2 mm. If the fitting does not match, the tool will not run. Consider noise and vibration for long sessions. Pick a version with lower noise levels then.
