Pin Punches
Use a pin punch to drive out pins and dowels without damaging the surrounding material. Choose the diameter to match the pin you need to remove. A set covers many common sizes for general work. The length affects reach in deeper holes. Pick a single punch for a specific diameter or a set for flexibility.

Pin Punches: Which Size and Type to Choose
The Right Diameter for Your Job
A pin punch drives out pins and dowels without damaging the surrounding material. Choose the diameter that matches the pin. If you use a punch that is too thin, it will bend or damage the pin. A punch that is too thick will not fit through the hole. Always measure the pin before you order.
Individual Pin Punch or Complete Set
For a specific size, buy an individual pin punch. That gives you exactly what you need. If you work on different vehicles, a set with multiple sizes is handy. You always have the right diameter within reach. Pay attention to the length: a longer punch reaches further but gives less control.
Where Ordering Goes Wrong
The size of a pin punch is the diameter of the shank, not the tip. Check this carefully in the product specification. If you choose the wrong size, you cannot drive out the pin without damage. A set with many sizes prevents you from needing a new punch for every job.
A pin punch belongs with Hand tools, along with what you reach for. Strike the pin punch with a Hammer and you drive the pin out faster. Measure the pin first with Measuring Tools so you order the right diameter. To loosen the nuts around a stuck pin, use Spanners or a Ratchet Wrench.
