Use a heat gun to shrink these tubes over cables for a watertight seal. Choose the right diameter: too small pinches, too large won't shrink firmly. Measure the cable without insulation. Black is standard, red for phase marking. Rolls come in different lengths and wall thicknesses. Check the max temperature rating. A proper shrink tube gives a professional finish.

Which shrink tube size do you need?
Shrink tubes insulate and protect cables. You shrink them with a heat gun. The diameter must fit the cable thickness exactly. Measure the cable without insulation. Too tight squeezes the cable, too loose does not seal. Always choose a size slightly larger than the cable itself.
What to check when ordering?
Shrink tubes come in different lengths and wall thicknesses. A thin wall is flexible and suits thin cables. A thick wall gives more protection against wear and moisture. Also check the maximum temperature. That tells you if the tube can handle engine bay heat.
Colour and use
Black is the standard for general insulation. Red marks a phase. Transparent tubes keep cable markings visible. Always shrink the tube fully around the cable. That gives a reliable connection that lasts long.
Shrink tubes are part of consumables in the workshop. Bundle cables neatly with cable ties and finish a connection with insulation and adhesive tapes. Use cable lugs to connect a power cable, and if a hose leaks, hose clamps go well with that.
