Air tools

This category offers pneumatic tools for every job in the automotive workshop. From blow guns and tyre inflators to impact wrenches and hammers. The right tool depends on air consumption, fitting size, and working pressure. These must match your compressor. That prevents weak performance or overloading. Check our clear specifications and compare easily. For light and heavy tasks, everything you need to run your workshop on air.

Frequently asked questions about Air tools

Answers to the most common questions from our customers

The air consumption of pneumatic tools is stated on the name plate in litres per minute (l/min). This is often at a common working pressure of 6 bar. Compare it with the flow your compressor delivers. A compressor must give that flow without the pressure dropping too much. For short use, the tank may empty a little, but for continuous use you need a larger reservoir.

The connection is the size of the inlet where the air hose attaches. 1/4 inch is common for light and medium duty tools. Heavier tools, like an air impact wrench, sometimes use 3/8 inch. The nipple and coupling must have the same size. If not, use an adapter.

It depends on the air consumption of the tool. A compressor with a 50 litre tank and a flow of 200 l/min is fine for a screwdriver and a blow gun. Heavy tools demand more. Check whether the compressor can deliver the flow continuously. A small compressor often cannot refill the tank during prolonged use.

No. Each tool has a maximum working pressure. A tyre inflator works already at 0 to 8 bar. Too much pressure overloads the tool and increases noise. Set the pressure regulator to the value in the manual. This extends the lifespan and prevents unsafe situations.

The sound pressure level is the loudness you actually hear in your ear. Above 85 dB(A), hearing protection is mandatory. The sound power level is a constant measured value of the machine itself. Your environment determines how much you hear of it. Pay attention to this value to create a quiet work area.

Air Tools: Choose by Air Consumption

Air tools for the workshop

Air tools are lighter and often cheaper than the cordless version. They last almost indefinitely, but only if your compressor delivers the air consumption continuously. That is why each product shows the consumption in litres per minute and the required working pressure. Check this before you order, because an undersized compressor is the most common mistake.

Impact wrenches and ratchets

For wheel nuts and heavy bolt connections, use an impact wrench. It delivers high torque quickly with compressed air. For assembly work in tight spots, an air ratchet wrench is the right choice. Pick the drive: 1/4 inch for light jobs, 3/8 inch as the daily size, and 1/2 inch for heavier work. Check the air consumption on both, as these tools demand a lot from your compressor.

Grinding, sanding and drilling

For grinding, polishing and cutting off, there are pneumatic sanders. Choose straight for precision work or angled for better access. Length and speed determine reach and surface finish. To drill holes without a power cable, an air drill is the answer. Check the model's air consumption against your compressor's output.

Blowing, inflating and spraying

An air blow gun blows away dirt and chips with a directed air stream. The length determines how far you reach. For tyres at the correct pressure, use a tyre inflator. The difference is in the maximum working pressure, from 8 to 16 bar, and the type of gauge: analogue or digital. For paint or underseal, use a spray gun. Choose the nozzle that suits the material.

Bodywork, cutting and blasting

For bodywork, there are special tools, such as a dent puller or a pneumatic saw. Mind the noise level and vibration. To replace a windscreen, cut through the adhesive with glass removal tools. The blades fit pneumatic cutters. Remove rust and paint with sandblasting equipment. Watch the air consumption closely, as blasting demands a lot from your compressor.

Accessories and the right choice

Without the right accessories, nothing happens. Think of couplings, oilers and water separators. Choose the air hose on length, inside diameter and working pressure. A hose that is too narrow causes pressure loss. For specific jobs, like fitting drive shaft boots, there is other air tools. If you do not have a compressor yet, consider cordless tools. For fixed work in the workshop, most mechanics choose air.
