Bolts, Nails & Nuts
For repairs and maintenance you need bolts, nuts, screws and nails in the correct size. Check the thread diameter and pitch. Metric is common in European cars. You will find inch sizes on American models. Zinc plated steel works for indoor use. Stainless steel is required outdoors and in the engine bay. Bolts, Nails & Nuts
Choose the right size and thread
Bolts and nuts come in metric and inch sizes. European cars use metric thread. American models often work with inch. Always check the diameter and thread pitch. A wrong pitch damages the thread. If in doubt, measure the thread with a thread gauge.
Where ordering goes wrong
Many mechanics order by eye and get the wrong length or thread type. Look at the marking on the bolt head. Metric often has a marking like 8.8. Inch sizes have a different marking. Use a caliper for the diameter and a thread gauge for the pitch. This prevents returns and downtime.
Material choice for internal and external use
Galvanised steel is suitable for internal use and dry environments. For external use and the engine bay, choose stainless steel. This prevents corrosion and seized connections. For body panels, use special bolts with a flat underside. A set with common sizes saves time. You always have the right bolt or nut within reach.
Bolts and nuts sets
In the bolts & nuts category you will find complete sets. Choose a set with nuts in metric or inch sizes. Pay attention to the finish: galvanised for internal, stainless for external. This way you always have the right combination for repair and maintenance.
Nails for workshop and job
For wood connections and fixing to walls, use nails. Short nails for light shelves, long and thicker ones for heavy-duty jobs. Choose the right length and diameter for the surface. A set of wire nails covers most jobs.
